Its been a whirlwhind couple of days, with lots of touring and trips within the UK. Three major stories I want to pass on from within the UK, two of which should raise eyebrows in the US and begin a bit of alarm.
First, the rhetoric is strong between the UK and Russia. Both countries have expelled the others’ diplomats, both countries are blaming the other, and both countries are drawing lines in the sand. Considering what’s been happening between Russia and the US, and the increasing propaganda on all sides, this is a case for alarm. Read more at the London Times.
Beyond that, Turkey has been positioning troops on their border with the Kurdish part of Iraq, and have moved beyond saber rattling to promising to invade in a matter of weeks. Seems the Kurdish moutains are housing terrorists attacking Turkey. They have 100,000 + troops ready to invade–considering that its the one ‘quiet’ area of Iraq, and we have 150,000 or so troops in Iraq, this should be a BIG case for alarm. Read more in the Times.
Last, much of Britain is under water. Many famous towns and locations–Stratford upon Avon, Oxford, the area around Stonehenge, all under water. There is massive flooding, and more on its way as it continues to rain all around an already oversoaked country. Water supplies and basic sanitation seem to be the biggest worries. More in the Times.
Yes, I like the London Times. One of the few papers in the country without an obvious bias. What a breath of fresh air!
