The United States welcomed Queen Elizabeth in style. First, a royal tour of Jamestown, then a day of fun at the track at the Kentucky Derby. Last, a day at the White House. Wait, maybe the White House wasn’t so great…but its just upholding the low expectations we have all come to have of this White House.
From Magner Carter (Magna Carta) to aging the Queen a few centuries, Bush had a few small gaffes. The Queen even corrected him! Listen closely, when he slips, she says “Wrong Year.” Three versions or links of it appear below. First, an unedited feed. Second, a BBC story on the Queen’s visit, which shows how the visit is viewed on the other side of the pond. Note, he WINKS at the Queen after his gaffe, an even bigger gaffe itself. All across England, they are tsk-tsking and saying “Cheeky one, that one.” Last, the view and comments of the White House Press Corps as they listen to the speech. Priceless.
The Washington Post has the full rundown of the Queen’s official State visit.
The Know it All family is making a trip to England this summer to visit Mr Know it All’s family. I think we’ll be Canadian for the week.
