KY races and local politics

Time for an update on what’s happening here in KY.  We have a Derby going on and its a while until the first Saturday in May.

In the Miller-Maze camp, they picked up some key endorsements in the Northern KY area.  I’ve always been a big fan of Jonathan Miller’s, the guy has heart, and more important to Little Miss Know it All, he walks the talk.  See the Miller-Maze campaign site here.

Bruce Lunsford has done a lot of name building lately, through campaign positions and advertising.  See his ads or his position on new cigarette taxes at the Lunsford Stumbo website.

Beshear still holds onto gambling as his ace in the hole.  I volunteered for his campaign for Senate in the 90’s against Senator Mitch McConnell, and I’m not sure he’s learned the lessons of that campaign yet.  Still, he’s worth a look.  Check out his campaign website at www.stevebeshear.com.

And Jody Richards and John Y Brown III are finally launching their website, Jody and John Y.  Personally, a little late guys.  Shows you don’t know much about today’s society, because first we look you up on the web, then we go see you or watch you on tv.

Anne Northup has been flying through the state, gathering the dissatisfied GOP base under her wing, while Gov. Ernie Fletcher has been trying to re-define himself through ads and generous handfulls of pork.

Oh, and Clinton is coming.  He’s coming to Cincinnati and Lexington for big fundraisers for Hillary.  Good to have him back in the state, too bad it will cost you an arm and a leg to get near him.

    It’s almost too much information.

Well, obviously the state has been down Gatewood’s road before. And seeing how that turned out each time, I don’t have to be the Amazing Kreskin to predict how its going to turn out this time. Besides, I think the novelty has worn off for his candidacy, I doubt many will give him a glance this time around. Shame, we need more upstarts like him around here. The current horse race is mostly the same old faces, the same old been there, done that folks. Jonathan Miller is new blood, sort of, but even he’s been around state politics for a decade.
